Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh approved the State Employment Plan 2020-22. Punjab Government plans to give one lakh jobs to the state’s youth by March 2022.

The government is planning to fill 50,000 vacancies before the end of financial year 2021 and appointment letters of these posts will given at Independence Day function next year, the Punjab CMO said. The rest 50,000 positions would be filled in financial year 2022. The announcement of the next 50000 vacancies will be done on the Independence Day function
The state Cabinet led by CM Amarinder also approved the Punjab Civil Services (Reservation of Posts for Women) Rules, 2020. Under this, 33 percent reservation will be provided to women for direct recruitment to posts in government, as well as recruitment to boards and corporations in Group A, B, C and D posts.

The plan approved by the Cabinet lays down that all government departments should put out advertisements for respective vacancies by October 31. 50,000 direct quota vacant government posts will be filled in 2020-21 and another 50,000 posts in 2021-22 as part of the flagship 'Ghar Ghar Rozgar' programme.
As per an official spokesperson, a total of 48,989 direct quota fillable vacant posts have been identified so far. These include Group A (3,959), Group B (8,717) and Group C (36,313) posts.
Moreover, Government has decided that from now onwards all engineering posts at the level of Junior Engineer (JE) and above in all Departments/ Boards/ Corporations/ Authorities etc shall be filled through PPSC by organising a common exam and that in those cases where departments are yet to finalize the agency that will carry out the recruitment, the department would finalize the agency at a competent level and go ahead with the recruitment process
